The Speed Art Museum was established in 1927, and is in fact Kentucky's oldest AND largest art museum - which is pretty impressive!
The museum features over 12,000 pieces in its permanent collection, with an extensive collection spanning 6,000 years of history, from ancient Egyptian to contemporary art, and so many more mediums in between.

A Celebration of the Speed Collection is a permanent exhibition, and turned a new light on the Speed Art Museum's wide-ranging collections. It's here you can see familiar favorites in novel ways, and see new acquisitions to the museum, and this is where the 6,000 years of human creativity starts to come to life!
Also in the permanent collection you can see Art of Ancient Cultures that will really transport you back in time, as well as African Art, Native American Art, European Art, American Art and Contemporary Art!
