Singletary Lake State Park is a hugely popular North Carolina state park for groups to visit, for camping, retreats and even educational activities. Whilst the park is geared more towards group visits, there are options for the public too.
Don't worry, you get to enjoy the beautiful nature as well, if you aren't in a group of 20 people or more.
Let's start with hiking! The flat terrain offers an easy exploration of the bay lakes, with great opportunities to learn all about the surrounding ecosystem. The CCC Loop Trail is one mile, with an easy meander through a forest of bay shrubs, cypress, cedar, gum and populars.
On the way back, you get to make your way through longleaf pine and bay vegetation. Keep an eye out for the wildlife!
Swimming is available at Singletary Lake State Park, however only for group use.
Canoe rentals are for groups only, however the public can bring their own watercraft (electric motors only) or canoes and kayaks for use on the lake.
For an additional adventure, Bay Tree Lake State Natural Area is also part of the Singletary Lake State Park, and is just 13 miles drive north of the park. This park is an undeveloped state park with no facilities, and perfect for day use or overnight campers. You do need a 4-wheel drive to head there though!
So get out into outdoors, and enjoy what Singletary Lake State Park has to offer!
