The Savannah African Art Museum is a creative and inspiring day out for the family! This fascinating museum is home to over 1000 objects, all from West and Central Africa. In fact, the collection spans over 28 countries that bisect the African continent, and represents over 180 cultures - from as far west as Guinea and as far east as Tanzania!
Whilst the museum was only created in 2016, the actual collection has been building for over 30 years, by a man named Mr Don Kole who actually founded the Savannah African Art Museum!
His then-private collection of African art really highlights a range of educational reproductions, as well as ceremonial and spiritual objects from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The collection features objects made from a range of materials, including ceramics, wood and metal. These incredibly powerful objects hold deep roots in the African culture, which you can learn all about on a trip to this amazing museum.
The Savannah African Art Museum also hosts a number of fun classes, from adult classes to fun workshop and craft days, so make sure you keep an eye out so you can be part of the creative learning and fun.
