What is there to do?

There are so many iconic San Francisco experiences, and those famous railways and cable cars as definitely one of those!

The San Francisco Railway Museum celebrates the history of rail transit in this great city, and explores its significant impact on the quality of urban life throughout its storied history.

After all, San Francisco is one of the few places in the entire world where you can experience actually riding a vintage rail transit in it's "natural habitat". Kids, can you feel the rumble of the motors under your feet, or the swaying of the car itself? So after a ride on the real thing, why not lean of the history at the railway museum to complete the experience?

The San Francisco Railway Museum features unique historic artifacts, illustrative and informative displays, rarely seen archival photography, in-depth historical interpretation, and audio-visual exhibits that bring the rail transit in the 19th and 20th centuries to life.

Kids can see a full-sized exact replica of the motorman's platform of a 1911 streetcar, and even experience what it would have been like at the controls!

If that wasn't enough, you can also find a wide variety of unique San Francisco gifts, souvenirs and memorabilia you won't find anywhere else!

So explore a museum that celebrates one part of San Francisco that makes the city so iconic. A great learning experience for the family!
