Picture this kids - the anticipation builds, the temperature drops, then you feel a cool fresh breeze surrounding you hear the sound of water splashing directly in front of you. Then, an invigorating mist!
Suddenly, there is light and your attention is drawn immediately upward. There you are, now staring at one of the world's most amazing phenomenon... can you guess where you are? Well, you're at the iconic Ruby Falls!
The journey we just described is your exciting journey taking you deep inside historic Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga to see the tallest and deepest underground waterfall open to the public in the entire United States! Now if THAT doesn't sound like a pretty awesome family day out, we don't know what does!
The trek to Ruby Falls will see you descend 260 feet by glass-front elevator where you can see with your very own eyes the ancient cave formations along the cavern trail to those thundering falls.
These breathtaking falls were actually discovered accidentally back in 1928 by a man named Leo Lambert, who named the falls after his wife - you guessed it - Ruby. Only a year later Ruby Falls opened to the public and now not only can you enjoy these underground cave adventures, but you can also take in spectacular views of the Cumberland Plateau, AND enjoy some more family fun on some soaring zip lines too!
From a cave walk to lantern tour or gentle walking tour, choose what is best for your family then just enjoy the adventure!
