Hands up who loves history? Us too! That's why we REALLY love visiting actual historic places, because you actually get to experience it first hand! When you visit Roosevelt's Little White House in Georgia, you will really be immersed in history, and what you are learning about will have actually happened on the very spot you are standing! It doesn't get much better than that!
The house was actually build by Franklin D Roosevelt himself in 1932, whilst he was the governor of New York. This was one year before he - any guesses - became president! Yep! (In 1933!)
There is so much to explore in this historic home. Did you know that Roosevelt was posing for a portrait in 1945, when he suffered a stroke and died shortly after? Well, that "unfinished portrait" can actually be found in the museum that showcases lots of other exibits.
You can see FDR's 1938 Ford convertible that he actually drove, as well as his Fireside Chats playing over his 1930's radio.
Did you know that he even had a stagecoach and a theater? Well, you can see those too!
The home has been carefully preserved just as he left it, as well as the servants and guest quarters.
Don't miss the fun events that can be enjoyed throughout the year, and ask about the Scavenger Hunts Through History too. There are also temporary exhibits that can give you that little bit more history if you just can't get enough!
The hidden gem of it all - there is actually a replica of the Mayflower that set sail in 1620, carved from original wood from that very ship! Amazing!
History is all around you at Roosevelt's Little White House. History has never been so much fun!
