Reynolda features three attractions - Reynolda Village Shops, Reynolda Gardens and the main feature - Reynolda House Museum of American Art.
The 34,000-square-foot historic home is the centerpiece, found on a beautiful 1,067-acre estate and model farm. What's also impressive, is that Reynolda House is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places!
Built back in1917, Reynolda House Museum of American Art started life as the home of Katharine Smith and R.J. Reynolds, who is the founder of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.
Today, the Reynolds family’s 64-room historic house stands as one of the few well-preserved, surviving examples of the American Country House movement and makes for a great walk through history - and art - on your next family day out.
Within the museum of art, there are over 6,000 historic objects, as well as an impressive collection of world-renowned American art, along with special exhibitions in the Babcock Gallery.
Spanning 250 years, the collection at the museum is a chronology of inspirational American art, and features artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Frederic Edwin Church, and Alexander Calder.
Don't miss a visit to the Reynolda Gardens too - which are always FREE to visit! Then you have Reynolda Shops, which not only give you a chance to enjoy picking something up to remind you of your visit, but the buildings were modeled after an English village and included dairy barns, a cattle shed, school, post office, smokehouse, blacksmith shop, carriage house, and much more so it makes for a really fun way to spend some time too!
A must-visit attraction in Winston-Salem!
