Located on nearly 2 acres of parkland on the banks of the historic Hoquiam River, the Polson Museum is a fascinating trip through time in Washington state! There is so much to see and explore, it will be like you are going back in time to the 19th and 20th century!
The impressive 6,500 sq ft mansion is the first thing you will notice, built in 1924.
Of the twenty-six rooms the museum holds, they use seventeen for exhibits. They display thousands of artifacts, documents, and photos taking you back in time.
It's home to the most extensive local collection that showcases Grays Harbor history.
The museum occupies 26 rooms in the mansion, with 17 being used for exhibits. Head upstairs and you'll see historic exhibits in the sports room, as well as the children's room.
There are period costumes which are great for kids to imagine life a century ago, as well as an extensive China display in the downstairs area.
Also at the Polson Museum is a Railroad Camp, designed to retain the aesthetic, functional and material qualities of a century-old locomotive shed. Make sure you check out the 550 year old Douglas fir! It's here kids will get a glimpse of what historic logging work was once like.
So why not take a step back in the history books, and experience the Polson Museum for yourselves!
