If you had a burger, or a hot dog that was 50,000 years old, it would be pretty disgusting wouldn't it? Now, if you had a spectacular cave system that was about the same age, you might find something amazing!
That's exactly what you'll find in Polar Caves Park - which were formed all those years ago as the third continental glacier moved over the White Mountains of New Hampshire. (Nature is amazing isn't it!?)
Then, when the ice retreated, it actually left behind what you will be visiting - a series of amazing caves and passageways which families can explore!
The self-guided tours will take you through the caves, as well as nature trails and a rock garden. Kids will be amazed at some of the formations they will experience in the caves. Kids - can you see how many different formations you can see?
There are actually nine amazing granite boulder caves which are connected by boardwalks so you can explore them more easily.
Polar Caves Park is much more than a cave system - it's a family day out! Take some lunch and enjoy a picnic or BBQ in the Pine Forest. Perhaps you'll be lucky and have some of the local wildlife to feed. There is even history to be learnt with the history of the Maple sap collection!
If kids really are into the underground theme, they can try their hand at being a miner for the day and try and get some gems and minerals of their own in the mining sluice, or they can hunt for crystals in the dark Klondike mines! Pretty crazy huh!?
Happy caving!
