Go back in time at Portland's first historic home, built in 1914, and a wonderful example of how prosperous people lived in the early 20th century.
Pittock Mansion is more than just a historic home, as it tells the story of how Portland transformed itself from a pioneer town, to a modern and industralized city, all through the history and legacy of one of the most influential families who lived there - the Pittocks.
Henry Pittock was actually born in England, but grew up in Pittsburgh and headed out on the Oregon Trail to seek his fortune - and that he did!
Today, you can learn all about his story and accomplishments as you explore the 16,000 sq ft French Renaissance style home, with 23 rooms including a library, music room and even Turkish smoking room!
Also on the property is the Gate Lodge, which sits next to what was the original gated roadway leading up to Pittock Mansion, with beautiful Italianate-style craftsman ship on the home.
There are also some beautiful grounds to explore, and whist the estate was 46 acres, the greenhouses and tennis court no longer stand. However, there are some really beautiful flowers and landscapes there to enjoy!
So take a trip through the history books at Pittock Mansion, a wonderful piece of Portland's history frozen in time, just how it was over 100 years ago!
