Montana itself has an incredible history, but what if you looked at just one county - how much history would you find there? The answer - an awful lot! Phillips County Museum has a rich natural and historical heritage, and YOU can learn all about it (on the very ground it happened!)
From dinosaurs, to cowboys, Indians and outlaws - all residents left their mark on the area in some way or another, and lucky for you the Phillips County Museum feature exhibits telling those stories!
There are displays on the Early Plains Indians, with artifacts from their lives, and kids can learn about the homesteading days and what they were like.
The exhibits break down the way of life for ranching and farming in Phillips County, as well as the mining industry and even early day schools (Kids, we imagine the schools are pretty different to the ones you know today!)
Throughout the museum, there are examples of how the pioneers, cowboys and Indians all worked and play, with tools, toys, clothing, furniture and more all on exhibit.
An informative display of early day outlaw, Kid Curry, is featured telling the story of his infamous train robbery in 1901, as well as his Wild Bunch gang! There's even life-sized replicas of a cowboy bunkhouse, church and mercantile!
Phillips County Museum also house a very fine dinosaur collection and many marine fossils found in the area (and they are a member of the Montana Dinosaur Trail!)
A fascinating trip through the history books, where history actually comes to life in front of your eyes!
