The Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum is set in two hangars at the Ford Island Control Tower (which still have scars as the country's first aviation battlefield - pretty incredible!) and is dedicated to sharing the stories and events of that infamous day in 1941.
The exhibits are filled with artifacts and stories aimed to educate and inspire all future generations with the story.
You can take a journey with some amazing veteran docents through the two hangars - 37 and 79. Does the date Dec 7, 1941 ring any bells? That's right! That infamous attack on Pearl Harbor which formed a huge part of American history, actually happened here, and Hangar 79 still shows signed of that day.
Your experience at the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum will begin in Hangar 37, which is a whopping 42,000 square foot former seaplane hangar which actually survived that Pearl Harbor attack. When you arrive, you will enjoy a 12 minute movie on the history, just so you can really picture what would have happened there all those years ago.
Then, you move through the exhibit area filled with some incredible carriers, including an authentic Japanese Zero, a light civilian plane that was shot down, and even a P-40 fighters.
There is so much history at this museum! As you look at the bullet holes in Hangar 79, you will then walk through and get to experience a life-sized diorama that depicts "MiG Alley, and some aircraft used in the Korean War.
