If you haven't heard of Patrick Henry, then you will want to visit the Patrick Henry National Memorial so you can learn all about him. After all, he was the "voice of the American Revolution"!
Red Hill is actually the last home and burial place of Patrick Henry, so what better place to enjoy an educational day out with the family in the Virginia countryside.
There are so many things to see and do at this National Memorial. When you arrive, you can watch a 15 minute video that details his career and life. A great introduction to a great man! From there, the Red Hill grounds are open for exploration, and don't forget about the museum in the Visitor Center!
On the site, there are seven historic buildings, as well as Patrick Henry's grave itself. The ground overlook at the Staunton River Valley, which pretty much appears as Patrick Henry would have seen it. Just stand there and imagine what he might have been thinking when he stood on that very spot!
Patrick Henry's National Memorial also has great events across the year, including the 4th July celebration and Revolutionary War-era re-enactions, and even a Living History Day for kids. The learning never stops!
