Padre Island National Seashore is an incredible part of the states, that separates the Gulf of Mexico from the Laguna Madre.
This National Park ensures 70 miles of coastline are protected, as well as the prairies, dune and wind tidal flats - which are teeming with wildlife! This area is a safe haven for some amazing creatures, including the sea turtle and 380 species of birds!
Did you know the area plays a part in an incredible history? The area has some Spanish shipwrecks from all the way back in 1554 - how amazing is that!?
Want to be a junior ranger? Of course you do! Those keen kids aged 5 to 13 can get involved in a host of activities that help them understand what makes the Padre Island National Seashore so special! Their booklet can be completed and they receive their very own Junior Ranger badge!
Love the beach? Good! Because Texas has some of the best! At Padre Island National Seashore you can spend the day enjoying the sun, as you bike ride, camp, fish, or picnic! You can take a swim, look for wildlife or even witness the sea turtle hatchling releases - how sweet! The Bird Island Basin also offers fun waterspouts for those active kids, like windsurfing and kayaking!
When you first arrive, make sure you check out the Visitors Center where you can grab a whole heap of information on the wildlife, or enjoy some of the free programs they offer!
