Kids, are you excited to spend your family day out surrounded by over 35 historic aircraft and a host of indoor exhibits all relating to aviation history? Great, because we're at the family-friendly Pacific Coast Air Museum, and they have 5 acres of aviation exploration for you!
Founded in 1989, the Pacific Coast Air Museum is dedicated to the restoration and display of historical aircraft, as well as honors heroic aviators who have contributed so much to the growth and defense of our way of life
The Pacific Coast Air Museum is a "hands-on" museum, so it's great for kids. Kids can learn what it was like to fly in the plans on display, and learn all about the men and women who actually flew them! In most cases they can walk right up to the airplanes, helicopters and equipment, touch them, look inside them, and see what makes them tick
Even with the historic aircraft on display, kids can crawl under them, look inside the wheel wells, and peer into cockpits
The permanent and semi-permanent exhibits features an impressive collection of rare photos, cutaway jet engines showing inner workings, WWII era artifacts, and items from the "Golden Era of Flight"
There is even an exhibit on the F-15A "First Responder, which was the first fighter jet on the scene over New York City the morning of September 11, 2001 - yes the ACTUAL aircraft!
So let's all FLY into the next family day out with a trip to the Pacific Coast Air Museum - kids, YOU are in the pilot seat now!
