Overland Trail Museum is a great day out and educational experience as you'll hear tales of Colorado's earliest settlers in the period village and houses!
The museum commemorates the historic migration of gold seekers and early pioneers and was opened in 1936 in the original building! Over the years, there have been lots added to it, not only to the structure but the increased in the collections which have been donated by citizens.
The village behind the main structure of the museum, features a one-room schoolhouse, church, barn, cash store and a blacksmith shop and farm machinery. You'll also see a vast collection of irons, saddles, and lots of other ranch equipment on your visit.
You'll also see a replicate of an early 1900s barber shop, with the displays inside coming from the original barbershop. There's also historic printing equipment, filling station and a machine shed too.
Activities take place annually at the museum, with weekly summer sessions too and a heritage festival, so make sure to check the website to see what's happening! They have hundreds of visitors every year so pay the museum a visit for a nostalgic trip through the past!
