Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in the 1830s in Massachusetts? The Old Sturbridge Village is ready to take the kids back in time, to let them experience what life would have been like all those years ago!
Old Sturbridge Village actually lets the whole family go back to the years 1790 to 1840. And there is so much to experience! How different do you think life then would be to how you life now? Pretty different we imagine!
The village has a huge 59 antique buildings, as well as historians in costume so they can really begin to imagine the lifestyle. With three water-powered mills and a working farm, there is so much to see!
Kids can be kept busy and active during summer with the Summer Discovery Adventures programs. Kids aged 6 to 17 can come and dress up in fun costumes, and explore all the attractions from militia life to sweet farm animals.
Love antiques? Well, the village is a living, breathing village so of course there are artifacts that can bring it all to life. Over 50,000 in fact! From clocks, furniture, pottery and quilts, this kind of detail is what really makes the Old Sturbridge Village extra special.
Have you every wondered where they got their food? They couldn't just pop down to the supermarket like you do with your family! The Freeman Farm is important for kids as they can learn how much work was involved in growing, collecting and preserving the food so they could last through winter.
Kids can also meet the animals, from sheep, pigs, chickens and see how the farm works. A great way for them to appreciate where their food comes from!
