There are some pretty impressive natural wonders, formations, and landscapes across the USA - so why not visit one with a pretty awesome claim to fame!
The Natural Bridge State Park is in Massachusetts, and it's the ONLY naturally formed white marble arch in the entire USA! Not only that, it's the only mad-made white marble dam in the country too. That's very cool - and YOU can visit it!
Natural Bridge State Park is 48 acres of natural wonder, where you can explore formations and geological sites that were formed around...wait for it....550 MILLION years ago! The bridge was carved into the shape of an arch by glacial melts around 13,000 years ago, and if you want to show your kids the best place in New England to demonstrate glacial effects, this is the place!
The bridge covers right across Hudson Brook, and then dramatically twists and tumbles right through a 60ft deep gorge.
In summer, there are park interpreters that are on hand to explain all about the park, the formation, and the natural forces that all had a role in making the Natural Bridge State Park what it is today. There is a .25 mile walkway above and through the chasm, as well as a .5 mile wooded walking trail, which is a great way for the family to spend time in nature.
You can also enjoy tours through an abandoned marble quarry too!
So why not get out and explore an amazing part of the country on your next family day out - the Natural Bridge State Park is waiting for you, so get those exploring shoes on!
