You might think a museum about atomic testing is a strange museum to have, but hey - we're in Vegas (and it's actually an interesting look at a key part of history!)
The National Atomic Testing Museum looks at unique world history through a number of exhibit styles to tell the 50 plus year story of the Nevada Test Site and its programs.
The museum features many not seen before, first-person narratives that tell this story, as well as large iconic artifacts, environmental re-creations, and theatrical devices!
In addition to the changing exhibitions, the National Atomic Testing Museum showcases more than 12,000 unique artifacts within their permanent exhibits, and there is something for everyone to experience!
Head to the GZ Theater and you can experience a simulated atmospheric bomb blast. Sounds pretty wild doesn't it?
Kids can learn about how both natural and man-made radiation is track, monitored and measured, and of course learn how man came to make the first Atomic Bomb (here's a quick quiz kids - what year did that happen?)
In the Underground Testing exhibit, the family can see the technology and science that took the Nuclear Testing underground, and in the Atomic Culture exhibit, learn how to survive an atomic blast beyond the duck and cover method!
If might not be your average family day out, but it's not your average museum!
