The collections are all categorized so you can really head straight to the areas that interest you. You can look at archaeology, earth sciences, fine arts, ethnology/history, mammals, plants, birds...just to name a few!
Have you ever seen ancient ivory carvings up close, or stood in front of a 2,000 year spectrum of art? There is even a 36,000 year old mummified steppe bison! How amazing is that!
The Gallery of Alaska is great to introduce the state's five key geographic regions, from people, wildlife, geography, history and artifacts. You really get a sense of Alaska.
The Museum of the North have some amazing exhibitions which cover a range of fascinating topics, but change ever few months so make sure you get in quick to the ones that interest you! They are sometimes art based, or even cover those amazing creatures known as the dinosaurs!
Keep an eye out for the fun family days too – some of the themes change, but twice a month kids can be junior curators and every Friday they can be early explorers – FUN!
An educational yet fascinating experience for the whole family.
