Art is a wonderful thing! It's not just paints either, and it's something that can inspire kids to get really creative! The Museum of Contemporary Art is a great place for kids to experience themselves in the art world.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago is actually one of the largest facilities that is devoted to modern art - which means there is LOTS to see!

Art doesn't have to just be paintings like you might think. It can come in all forms - which is great for kids to understand! From sculptures, video and even performances...there is no right or wrong answer. As they walk around the exhibits, they can look at the colors, and the shapes, and the techniques used. What do they think of them? It's amazing what different opinions might come out from each member of the family!

That art you will find in the museum is from 1945 onwards - it's modern after all! 

Keep and eye on the exhibitions because some are always changing. Each exhibition often represents a different artist who specializes in a particular type of art.  There is also an amazing collection of a number of art pieces - from surrealism to minimalism.

There are actually 2,500 objects in the collection, and only a small amount are shown and rotated, so even with the permanent collection there is something new to see on your next visit! 

The museum knows that people love to learn, so they often have programs, talks and screenings - and even live art - that you can experience. From docent tours, to family days, there will be something that will capture you!

You're never too old or young to become interested in art. You never know how the museum might inspire you!
