Did you know that Minnehaha Regional Park because one of the FIRST state parks ever created in the USA? That's right! Minnehaha Falls and the surrounding land was purchased by the state in 1889 - only New York had created a state park by that time!
Minnehaha Regional Park is a great place to visit with the family, especially if you are needing that bit of nature! Covering 167 acres, and certainly has plenty to keep the whole family entertained!
You can grab the bikes and take to the biking path - great to keep those kids active!
It would be a shame to visit such a park and not enjoy the falls, so why not rent a bike if you don't have one, and cruise on past the falls, and check out those famous limestone bluffs!
If you want to try something new, why not head on over to the disc golf course. If you haven't played it before, it's certainly a challenge, and something different!
There are a number of gardens within Minnehaha Regional Park that you can explore, including the Minnehaha Falls Pergola Garden, and the Longfellow Garden. Fancy a bit of history? Just as well, because you can check out a number of historical sites! Longfellow House is a lovely historic building to visit, and the John. H Stevens House was actually built by an early settler in 1849.
There is public art to inspire the creativity in the kids, and there is a fun wading pool to cool them down in the summer! There is even a volleyball court if you still have some energy left over!
Enjoy this amazing part of Minneapolis where you can get back to nature!
