Washington DC pays tribute to a lot of past icons, and Lincoln Memorial is no different.
This iconic structure is one of the most visited locations in the city, and it's definitely worth a visit on any family day out in the nation's capital!
"I have a dream" Does that sound familiar? Well, it's on these very steps that Martin Luther King Jr made that famous speech on August 28, 1963, and changed the course of American history.
Keep an eye on for the tiny plaque on the steps that marks the exact location this speech was made.
Love Forest Gump? You might just recognize that Reflecting Pool that lies right on the brim of the memorial.
Built in 1912 and located at the far western end of the National Mall, the memorial's highlight is the 19ft tall statue of the man himself, surrounded by 36 columns - each representing a state of the union at the time of Lincoln's death.
The memorial is located in a beautiful part of the city, and a great way to get around is on bikes or segways - a popular way to travel around the sights which are quite spread apart.
So make sure the Lincoln Memorial is on your list of things to do in Washington DC on your next visit, and don't forget your camera!
