About Lake Leatherwood City Park

Lake Leatherwood City Park offers over 1600 acres of scenic parkland where you can spend your next family day out! What's even better, is that the park is surrounding an 85 acre lake, perfect for getting out onto the water on boats, kayaks, or canoes.

Here's a fun fact about the lake, kids. It was actually formed by one of the LARGEST hand-cut native limestone dams in the entire country. Pretty cool!

There is a boat ramp as well as a kayak or canoe launch, and if you don't have your own,  kayaks, canoes, row and paddle boats are all available for rent too!

Fishing is also a popular activity on the lake, with the waters home to crappie, blue gill, large mouth bass and bream, to name a few. Don't worry if you forget your fishing pole, as there is a Bait Shop ready to help!

If you would rather stay on dry land, Lake Leatherwood City park has over 21 mikes of trails that can be accessed by pathways. Grab those hiking shoes as they are perfect and biking, with no motorised vehicle access permitted.

There is a massive eco system around the lake providing regular opportunities to spot white-tailed deer, bobcats, raccoons, and snakes, plus over 120 recorded bird species live in the area.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Place, Lake Leatherwood City Park offers a fun family day out of solitude, wildlife, cool springs, historic stone walls, unusual rock formations, outdoor adventure and just that stunning beauty of nature.
