With it's towering canyon walls up to 700ft high, and a long valley to boot, Kershaw-Ryan State Park really is an oasis in the Nevada desert. It also could be the destination for your next family day out!
Kershaw-Ryan State Park is located two miles south of Caliente via U.S. 93 and State Route 317. One of the first things you will notice is how the landscapes are a sharp contrast to the rugged landscape that surrounds it.
Kids, can you spot the natural springs that grow a garden of wild grapevines, fruit trees, and willows. All of these were cultivated by early settlers. There's a bit of history for you too!
You might even want to ensure you take the time to explore the spring-fed pond that enables you to enjoy a refreshing kids wading pool. How cool is that!?
You know what else is cool? It's not uncommon to see wild horses pass you by, as well as other wildlife including deer that head to the water.
Kershaw-Ryan State Park is a great place to enjoy a picnic at their picnic areas, or perhaps you want to grab those walking shoes and hit the series of trails that wind throughout.
With camping too, and the perfect setting for kids to study nature and learn about the landscapes around them, Kershaw-Ryan State Park is an outdoor adventure in a desert oasis that you will want to take your camera to!
