You've all heard of the famous Kentucky Derby, so why not learn all about the famous event, the history, and what goes on behind the scenes?
The Kentucky Derby Museum sits on the front steps of historic Churchill Downs, and gives all who visit a first hand look at the event for which Louisville, Kentucky is known worldwide (that's the Kentucky Derby, kids!)
Your admission to the Kentucky Derby Museum gives you access to a host of activities that are fun for all ages. You can enjoy a 30 minute historic walking tour of the Churchill Downs Racetrack, departing hourly.
Here, you can learn about past Derby winners, as well as the rich history of the location. You can walk down to the paddock, and out to the grandstand, as you discover trivia and fun facts along the way!
Also included in your admission is an 18 minute media experience called "The Greatest Race", that will be sure to make your heart race, plus two floors of family-friendly interactive exhibits!
These interactive exhibits walk you through every step of a Thoroughbred's life, from birth to the at first Saturday in May. You can learn all about the great history of this iconic race that dates back to 1875, right through to todays champions
It's always fascinating to learn about the traditions that have transformed the race into what it is today!
You also get to visit the Kentucky Derby Museum Stable, right outside the museum itself, where you can meet their resident Thoroughbred!

The Derby Cafe Express features grab-and-go & made-to-order breakfast and lunch items, such as parfaits, fresh breakfast pastries, & muffins, then deli-style sandwiches, paninis, soups, salads, fresh fruit, and Kentucky-inspired staples like the one and only Derby Pie for lunch.
They offer additional tours if you want to experience more about the racetrack, from behind the scenes, to a haunted tour!
Whether you’re shopping for a one-of-a-kind souvenir, buying a gift for a horse-lover, or planning a great Derby party, they have everything you need at the Gift Shop. You don't need admission to visit the store!
They love to host field trips for groups of 10 or more, with age-appropriate, core-curriculum driven Education Programs! They get to experience everything normally included in the admission
