It all began with a drop of water... Kartchner Caverns State Park features the incredible caverns, which is an ancient water eroded wonderland with unique formations and stunning sights!
Who says adventure needs to be ABOVE ground!
This limestone cave was discovered back in 1974, and features all those incredible formations you find in these underground wonders - and this one took 330 million years to be formed by the water! Kids will be able to see icicles, and giant stalagmites, and it can all be explored by the 90 minute guided tour.
Above ground, the Discovery Center is a great place to check out the museum exhibits all on the cave, and the history of the it, with a theater and displays too. If you have ever wanted to experience 86,000 year old sloth bones, and a 36,000 year old horse skull, it's all at the museum!
Kids can see bones from various animals found in the area, and they can learn all about the geology of the caverns, and the surface area. There are even exhibits on the evidence of human habitation on display too! Can you imagine what kind of life these humans would have led? It's fun to imagine!
Why not explore the Kartchner Caverns State Park after your visit too! Get those active kids out onto the hiking trails, enjoy a picnic in the picnic areas and check out the pretty birds in the Hummingbird Garden!
So grab those walking shoes and enjoy an underground adventure in one of the most stunning caverns in the USA!
