Sometimes it's nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and to take the family to a place that is peaceful, and calm, and beautiful.
Jungle Gardens in Louisiana is just that. Located on the beautiful Avery Island, this 170 acre experience will give kids the chance to see real natural beauty and tranquility.
Popular with naturalists and bird watchers, Jungle Gardens features rolilng landscapes, botanical treasures, and a host of beautiful wildlife.
There are a number a of attractions within Jungle Gardens that you can explore, including beautiful flowers, amazing colors, and even a Buddha that is centuries old.
This Buddha statue is actually over 900 years old, and is a focual point for those who visit the gardens.
Another popular area within Jungle Gardens is Bird City. This famous rookery once started life as a bird colony in the 1890s. It began when Egrets were raised in the aviary that was specially built. When these birds were released in the fall to migrate, they came back in spring.
This continued, and how it's an amazing city of birds that the kids will just love to see!
Of course, the wildlife in Jungle Gardens is a highlight too! Along with the Snowy Egrets, you might just catch a sneak at alligators (we are in Louisiana, after all!) as well as raccoons, dear, and even the odd black bear if you are lucky! Coyotes, wild cats, otters, rabbits - all these species have been spotted, so keep your eye out!
Don't miss Monsurat - the largest alligator ever caught on the island at over 18ft long!
A beautiful day in nature in a stunning part of Louisiana!
