Fierce meat eating dinosaurs, majestic and grand ice aged mammals, bubbling volcanic hotspots - where might you be kids? If you guessed Idaho, you'd be right!
The Idaho Museum of Natural History is a truly fascinating insight into earlier life in and around the state, with over 500,000 collections in anthropology (who used to live in the area? They even have collections of clothing and dolls from the people of the past), life science (everything we know and love above the ground), earth science (fossils, minerals, and all things found underneath our feet), as well as an interesting archive of ethnographic photographs.
A long, long time ago, long before you were born, Idaho was a very different place, as was the whole world.
It was full of amazing, wondrous and often very very BIG creatures who walked the earth where you now go to school and enjoy family time.
The museum houses both permanent collections, as well as special exhibits for a period of time, so make sure you keep checking to see what's coming up so you don't miss out
Visit the Anthropology exhibit where you can experience a wide range of items - from children’s dolls to games - even bows and arrows, that mark the traditional life that these families once had.
Check out the Earth Sciences exhibit where everything geology - from minerals to fossils - can be unearthed! Of course Life Sciences is where you can learn all about the diverse flora and fauna of the area. It’s a learning treat!
Want to see real dinosaur bones? Sure! As you wander round you will see their collection of dinosaurs which have been painstakingly put back together after being found lying in this very ground.
So come on, lets go back in time!
