Who's excited to step back into the 19th century!? The Hunt-Morgan House in Lexington, Kentucky, is a great reminder of early 19th century life.
Did you know back then Lexington was actually know as The Athens of the West? That's not all you will discover on your journey back in time!
The Hunt-Morgan House was built in 1814, and the Hunt-Morgan families might just be as impressive as the house! They were actually one of the most historic in the region, producing the FIRST millionaire west of the Alleghenies. They also gave Kentucky the states FIRST Nobel Prize Winner, and a Civil War brigadier general.
Pretty impressive family if we do say so ourselves!
Now, the Hunt-Morgan House gives you an insight not only into this amazing family, but the times themselves. The museum holds a collection of early Kentucky furniture, as well as 19th century paintings and antiques, that capture the elegance of the families.
All of the rooms are furnished with items from the period, as well as originals actually owned by the family, so you can really use your imagination as you walk round as to how their lives might have been!

The second floor of the house holds the Alexander T. Hunt Civil War Museum, with an extensive collection of Civil War memorabilia and relics.
