About Hocking Hills State Park

Hocking Hills State Park is much more than just a park!  It is wild, romantic, incredibly beautiful and most importantly FUN to spend time exploring!

There are incredibly massive sandstone outcroppings to take in, deep cool gorges to explore, sparkling cascading waterfalls to play under, and towering hemlocks overhead!

They have some of the most scenic landscapes in the state - the perfect location for a family day out!

Enjoy one of the 9 walking trails (or all of them in your are feeling super adventurous!) as well as 3 mountain bike trails throughout the park, all of varying difficulties so little kids can learn the motions of biking, and those more advanced can really feel the wind in their hair!

As you take to the trails, you might just run into some furry friends who call the park home! White-tailed deer, ruffed grouse, barred owls and maybe an encounter with a bobcat make the experience extra special.  During spring if you are there in the early morning hours they park will come alive with the infamous gobble of wild turkey!

Don't forget your swimmers either, because there is a swimming pool outside the dining lodge that is open seasonally for a small daily fee, where you can cool down on those hot summer days!

The park hold regular programs and events too, from tours of the mysterious Ash Cave, to learning of the history and the nature of the park.

Boo! Some of the caves are said to be haunted, so make sure you ask about who might be joining you on the tours when you're down there!  oooooooooh!

If all of that wasn't enough, there is even an archery range thrown in for good measure, with 5 static targets and 22 3D targets where you can practice your aim, which is open from daylight to dusk all year around!  Just like Robin Hood would have done!
