Experience part of the rich Hawaiian history with a visit to the ONLY active historical railroad on Oahu! Yes, we are talking about a family day out to the Hawaiian Railroad Society.
This non-profit organization is dedicated to saving, restoring, and protecting the state's fascinating railroading history. It also ensures a great educational experience for all who visit, too!
Not only do the have the only active historical railroad on Oahu, but they also have the only operating railroad museum in the entire state!
During your family day out at this historical attraction (in a stunning location might we add!) kids can ride along a historic stretch of track west of old Ewa and listen to stories about the history of railroading in Hawaii.
It's not only a wonderful way to really be part of the history, but you also get to see some stunning views of Hawaii's coast too!
The Sunday rides run for 90 minutes and are fully-narrated, so along the way you can hear stories about host sugar cane trains were used on sugar plantations, learn about points of historic interest, and even hear about the "ghost town" of Gilbert!
You can even stop at the end of the line for a while to admire the view at Kahe Point, so take your camera!
So chug chug chug choo choo your way into your next family day out, in one of the most beautiful parts of the USA!
Choo choo!
