Grant-Kohrs Ranch in Montana is a national historic site that commemorates and preserves the role and stories of cattlemen in American history.
This once-working ranch used to the the headquarters of a 10 million acre cattle empire - a true symbol of the American West! These days it's a place where the whole family can explore the 1,600 acres and 80 historic structures, and delve into the history of this iconic part of America's past.
When you first arrive, head to the visitor center where you can sign up for guided tours, as well as check out all the other activities that are happening that day - so you can make sure you don't miss them!
The ranch complex itself is like living history. The historic buildings are original, and include the bunkhouse, blacksmith shop, ranch house and horse barns as places the kids can explore.
What do you think it would have been like working on a ranch such as Grant-Kohrs? Fun or exhausting? Probably both! They certainly would have worked hard!
It's a great outdoors experience, with lots of easy walking trails for the whole family to ensure out on. There are also some pretty fun barn animals for the kids to say hello to - from horses, cows and chickens.
The guided tours are pretty fun too! From Wagon Tours, to talks on Chuckwagons, and even talks on the real life of a cowboy - a true experience back to the West!
