There is so much history to be learnt, and at the General George S. Patton Memorial Museum, there is so much to learn right on the spot that it happened!
You see, the General Patton Memorial Museum was created to promote peace by honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans, as well as ensuring those who visit can learn all about the rich modern U.S. military history.
It's the fascinating exhibits and artifacts from the major conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries that support this, and kids can really enjoy an invaluable learning experience - and even come face to face with some real life tanks too!
The museum is dedicated to General Patton because he was actually the one that handpicked this very site to be the Desert Training Center for WWII - eventually training over a million men to go into the conflict.
This became the world’s largest military installation both in size and population stretching from Arizona to Nevada to California - pretty amazing!
Your time at the museum will see you visit a number of exhibits, each exploring a different topic. You might explore what went on in the Desert Training Center, and really understanding the harsh desert terrain the soldiers would have faced.
You can learn about how Leonardo Da Vinci even assisted in the war effort with this hand-drawn inventions, or seeing cannons of his era.
Make sure you spend time in the amazing tank yard, where they have a number of real life tanks there to view.
A family experience surrounded by history, stories, and real artifacts from a key part in US history!
