Fort Cooper State Park is 700 acres of nature at it's best, featuring the beautiful Lake Holathlikaha. The park and the lake are the perfect spot for the family to relax, hike, learn about nature, or learn about the rich history!
For those keen hikers in the family, the park offers nearly five miles of self-guided trails. These are perfect for looking out for all the wildlife that call the park home. There are frequent sightings of turkey, white tail deer and even woodpecker, just to name a few.
The hiking trails are easy to navigate, and range from easy to moderate so you can just relax as you make your way through the hammocks and sand hill communities. Keep an eye out for the interpretive signs that give you an insight into the area.
Want to actually get out onto the lake? Great! The lake is popular for fishing and boating. Private boats are prohibited, but canoes are available to rent when the water levels are right.
Love some history? Perfect because Fort Cooper State Park is rich in it! The park is actually named for Major Mark Anthony Cooper who was the commander of 380 First Georgia Battalion Volunteers. He played a huge part in saving lives during a two week siege against the Seminoles. Pretty amazing!
You can learn more if you complete the entire trail and check out the interpretive signs!
A great way to explore the beautiful landscapes of Florida!
