Nee awww nee awww - kids, do you get excited when you hear that familiar sound of the fire siren? If you do, then you might want to visit the Firehouse Ministries Fire Museum where you can look into the history of firefighting in Rock Falls and get up close to real life fire engines!
Sounds great!
The popular exhibits in the Firehouse Ministries Fire Museum are those big red shiny firetrucks themselves! They have a great fleet that kids will just love! Have you ever seen a 1928 Pirsch Fire Engine? How does it differ to the ones you see today?
You can compare it to the 1971 International fire engine, or even the 1975 Rock Falls 42 Engine. Don't miss the fun yellow 1987 Pierce Lance fire engine either!
The exhibits within the museum are filled with great artifacts that all tell the story of the fire department. There are fire fighter clothing, and tools they used to use to put out those fire, including historic helmets and hose pipes!
If you think it's only exhibits, think again! The museum put on family fun days across the year, where the family can enjoy inflatable fun, firefighting activities, and even fire truck rides! Don't forget about the FREE lunches!
Kids can look at the firefighting apparatus, as well as toy fire trucks, and even dress ups!
If you want to see something really historic, check out the 1884 Hose Cart, as well as pre-1900's fire equipment and uniforms, and historic photos. What a great way to learn!
So grab those helmets and slide down that pole - there's a fire to put out in Illinois!
