At Farmamerica, you get to enjoy farm fun AND history all in the one unique experience, so move over Old McDonald, we have some family fun to enjoy!
Kids can visit an authentic 1930's farmstead, including a dairy barn, house, windmill and granary. During the summer tour season, they even have a few farm animals out, so you can see what farm life was really like in the 1930s!
You can visit an 1881 Methodist Church, built by Norwegian immigrants, and learn how rural churches were an important social part of family life.
History goes back even further with the 1850s settlement and a visit to the original dugout, likely a shelter for the first pioneers. Pioneer Farms back in the day were people powered, but they had the help of animals, not like all the machinery we have now!
Make a stop in the 1850's vintage Blacksmith Shop, where the blacksmith repaired tools and shoed the horses, which were very important jobs on a farm!
The Prairie Interpretive Center is another great place to visit in Farmamerica, a project supporting wildlife and aquatic habitats - a hugely important role.
So explore how Minnesota thrived in the late 1800s and 1900s, and see how much farming has changed in the last 160 years!
