If you love the great outdoors, then check out Eno River State Park in North Carolina. Minutes from Durham, Hillsborough, and Chapel Hill the Eno River State Park offers secluded wilderness trails surrounded by mature forests, as well as a historic mill and home sites, as well as river bluffs covered with flowering shrubs, and fords used by early settlers.
Don't forget about the amazing wildlife that you just might spot!
The Eno River is a swift, shallow stream flowing from northwest Orange County into Durham County for 33 miles where it joins the Flat River to become the Neuse and flows into Falls Lake.
Rains can turn the river into a raging torrent, yet it quickly settles into a gentle current. It is a chain of rapids, pools, and riffles meandering through forest on a bed of rock. Kids will get a kick out of being in the great outdoors!
We mentioned the wilderness trails, but did we mention there are nearly 30 miles of trails that run along a shallow stream? Sounds pretty great, doesn't it?
These trails are popular with photographers, anglers and nature lovers. Eno River State park also offers campsites but equipment must be carried in.
If the water is deep enough, you can enjoy some time actually out on the river on your canoe and kayak.
So grab those walking shoes, and that sense of adventure because there is much to explore at Eno River State Park!
