The Delaware Agricultural Village and Museum was set up in the late 1970s by a group of Delaware farmers, so you know that you really will gain a true insight into agricultural life! Not modern life, though. We're talking about life in the 1800s! Located within a 40,000 sq ft building, this fun museum has a collection of over 4,000 artifacts throughout a number of fascinating exhibits.
Excited to hear what you can see?
Well, kids can see a chicken house. Doesn't sound too fancy? Well, this chicken house was in fact the birth of the "Broiler" industry and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974!
Kids can see displays of antique farm machinery, tools and equipment , and of course, at the Delaware Agricultural Village and Museum the family can see first hand the daily life in rural Delaware in the late 19th century.
You can explore a 19th century train station, general store, school, barbershop, and so much more!
For the child who believes milk comes from the grocery store instead of a cow, for the woman who remembers using a cornsheller on her grandmother's farm, the family who takes twentieth century technological advances and the farmer for granted, the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village offers a memorable and educational experience!
By preserving the quickly fading agricultural heritage of Delaware and the Delmarva Peninsula, the Museum stands as an important legacy for future generations.
