For centuries, the site of Cliffs of the Neuse State Park has been a landmark within North Carolina and beyond. Now, it can be the destination for your family day out! The impressive cliffs that overlook the Neuse River are the reason the park found it's name.
For those adventurous families, who even those who just love getting out into nature, it's a fun experience for all ages.
If you love hiking, Cliffs of the Neuse State Park have five hiking trails that allow you to explore the riverside habitats and the nature forests.
Love fishing? These trails are great access to that too, as they run along the waterway!
During those summer months, a popular pasttime at this state park is the 11 acre swimming lake, complete with a bathhouse, grass covered lawn and sandy beach. Make sure you check out the diving platform too!
If you prefer to be out ON the water, rental boats are available also.
Cliffs of the Neuse State Park also have expansive picnic grounds nearby, as well as campsites if you want to extend that family day out to even longer. There are 32 sites within the family campground, as well as 3 reservable cabins.
The best place to start your adventure is at the visitor center, where you can explore museum-quality exhibits that cover the natural and cultural history of the region. They also offer complementing interpretive programs on a regular basis too.
