Castellani Art Museum is part of Niagara University, and is know for the exhibits of contemporary artists as well as traditional folk artists that are featured each year.
BUT - if your kids love art and really want to be inspired, they can experience works from some of the GREATS! Dali, Picasso, Miro, Calder, Warhol...just to name a few!
The older kids will be more likely to really appreciate the works, where they can really sit back and study the colors, lines, and techniques. Maybe you have a mini Picasso in the family and don't even know it!
The permanent collection has over 5700 works, so even if you never made it to the rotating exhibitions, chances are you will still see something new every visit!
Kids been inspired by the visit? Castellani Art Museum holds creative summer camps which give kids an enriching art experience! Mornings they can create fun and exciting art projects which are inspired by the museum's collection, and in the afternoon they can participate in fun theatre games, storytelling, and even get up and perform!
If they want something more regular, the museum offer Art Express Family Workshops every Saturday afternoon in fall and spring. Kids can listen to stories, and enjoy the artworks in the galleries and then of course, make art!
So get the kids inspired, get them creative, get them to Castellani Art Museum and maybe they will see their artwork up on the walls one day!
