Did you ever wonder how those delicious vegetables got on your plates, kids? Well, at the California Agriculture Museum, you can not only learn about the history of farm to fork, but you can also learn all about the agricultural industry in California!
The California Agriculture Museum is actually home to the USA's most unique collection of tractors, as well as other agricultural related artifacts.
The museum is filled with fascinating interactive exhibits, each one telling another piece of the farm to fork history - some of which dates back to the Gold Rush era!
Kids can really feel like they are there as storytellers boast about how California food producers did things bigger and better. They can learn all about the evolution from the horse drawn machines, to the steam powered machines.
It's also a great way to teach kids about multiculturalism, as they explore how farming brought a number of heritages and cultures into the one region, creating a prosperous and bountiful land!
Kids can see an old blacksmith shop, or check out early barns and livestock. There are even buses from the 1920s, and machines from the 1800s.
Make sure you stop at the Kid's Corner too! It's a great place for them to get their hands on some kiddie sized machines!
The California Agriculture Museum actually has over 100 antique tractors, and hundreds of artifacts, so there is a lot to learn! You can take a docent led tour, or just take your own time and enjoy a self-guided tour.
All this learning is making us hungry - and we know exactly how the food got to our plate now!
