Blue Spring State Park has everything you would want from an outdoor adventure in Florida. Beautiful nature, incredible wildlife, and even history thrown in too! Blue Spring State Park covers more than 2,600 acres, and it also features the largest spring on the St. John's River. That's pretty impressive!
The park is also a designated manatee refuge, and in winter it's home to the growing population of West Indian Manatees. The manatee season runs from mid-November to March, and there's a good chance you will see several hundred of them during this time!
When the manatee's aren't around, the spring's crystal clear 73 degree water can be enjoyed by the whole family! It's a great spot for swimming, and even snorkelling. Did you know that even certified scuba divers can also enjoy time in the water during the designated swim season?
Along the St. John's River you can enjoy fishing, canoeing and boating too!
They even offer river boat tours, which are available through St. Johns River Cruises. Hiking is a popular activity to enjoy in the park too.
And the history part? Well, Thursby House of course! You can enjoy self-guided tours inside this historic home, built at the height of the steamboat era in 1872. It's great to imagine what life would have been like all those years ago!
If you want to extend your stay at Blue Spring State Park, there is a full-facility campground available, as well as air-conditioned cabins too.
So get ready for a family day out surrounded by amazing wildlife, beautiful landscapes and soak up that rich history! Blue Spring State Park is waiting!
