Kids, if you're worried you might miss your favorite cartoons on television on your family day out, how about a trip to look at - yep - cartoons! It's win win!
The Barker Character, Comic and Cartoon Museum has one of the largest collections of cartoon-themed artifacts and toys in the whole of the USA. Kids will have a great time looking at their favorite characters in amazing art pieces, and adults will get a kick out of going down memory lane and re-living some of their childhood favorites.
Every item in the museum has played a part in American childhoods - from those toys you get in fast food meals to fun Disney displays. There is even an 8 foot tall Hulk that kids can get their photo taken with. Pretty cool!
When you arrive you will get a free souvenir (we love that!) and a free booklet of facts, as well as floor plans that can guide you through the museum. Take your time! Stroll through all the collections and enjoy the trip down memory lane.
Some of the toys date back to 1873, so the collection really is extensive! There are popular comic strips from the 1920s, as well as a wind up musical toy from the 1930s. Remember Popeye? He's still going strong with his own collection - and from Betty Boop to Koko the Clown, as well as the early days of Disney, it's a historical journey as well as a personal one.
No need to say no to cartoons today, because the Barker Character, Comic and Cartoon Museum is an art filled historical journey through some amazing collections! Enjoy!
