Anclote Key Preserve State Park is 403 acres of beautiful park off the shore of Tarpon Springs in Florida. Here, at least 43 species of birds can be found, including the iconic bald eagle and piping plover. It also features the historic and picturesque 1887 lighthouse that still stands as a sentinel on the southern end of the island.
Only accessible via private boat of ferry service, Anclote Key Preserve State Park gives you the chance to spend your day in the blue-green Gulf waters that gently lap along the pristine sandy beaches of the four islands that make up the park.
During your visit, you can swim and sunbathe at the beach, then fire up a grill and enjoy a picnic.
If you want to stay longer than a day, there is no charge for overnight stays in the primitive campground, but campers must check in by calling the park before arrival.
It's worth noting that a trip to Anclote Key Preserve State Park really is an adventure! There are no provisions on the island, so many sure you go prepared with supplies and water.
