Alaska is such a stunning state, why not see more of it in the comfort of a very iconic train trip! The Alaska Railroad’s main line dates back to 1923, and stretches a whopping 470 miles from Seward to Fairbanks, connecting at various communities along the way.
Not only can you enjoy regular train services through Alaska Railroad, but you can also enjoy day trips from various cities including Anchorage, Fairbanks and Denali. These trips range from an hour to a full day, taking you out to experience amazing wildlife, glaciers, even dog sledding, white water rafting, zliplines and some incorporate cruises and flights too! It's an amazing way to see the state!
The Alaska Railroad operates year round, with scheduled serviced varying seasonally. Naturally, you'll find the busy summer season stretches from mid-May to mid-September, whilst the quieter winter schedule runs the rest of the year from mid-September to mid-May.
So enjoy seeing a side of Alaska you might never have thought you would see - and there is nothing quite like looking out onto snowy mountains from the comfort of a cozy, heated train carriage!
