Who knows....when Abraham Lincoln was president? Who knows....what number president he was....? Any takers? Well, if you haven't got to that in history class yet, then why not get ahead of the pack! (Hint...he was the 16th!)
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Museum is a fascinating, enjoyable and unique history museum experience.
Walk around and enjoy all the details that made up Lincoln and his life. There is an impressive full-sized replica of the 1861 White House facade, priceless Lincoln artefacts on display and even the roar of cannons and appearances of ghosts! (Don't be scared - they're not real! ...We don't think....)
You begin with Lincoln as a young boy, reading his borrowed books by the firelight. You learn about his family, relationships, and eventual road into politics. There are recreations of the infamous Fords Theater, and learn about how his death affected the whole country - and changed it so you can live a better life now!
The museum is really designed for kids in the 4th grade and up due to the nature of some of the content, but for those younger history buffs, Mrs Lincolns Attics is a super fun hands on area for kids 3 - 12 and their families.
There are always temporary exhibits too, so make sure you keep track and keep going back for the ones you want to see!
So take a trip down in American history and enjoy this special and important museum with the whole family. Make sure you allow 2.5 - 3 hours to see the whole exhibit.
