The Western Development Museum is the keeper of Saskatchewans collective heritage. The Museum shares the provinces unique sense of place with all people for their understanding and enjoyment – recognizing that the legacy of the past is the foundation for a sustainable future.
The museum is the largest human history museum in Saskatchewan, and have a collection of over 75,000 artifacts. These range from small pins to huge locomotives across four locations in the area. Each museum focuses on a different aspect of history.
Moose Jaw is a transportation museum, North Battleford is all about farm and rural life, Saskatoon is all about innovation and Yorkton will share stories of immigration. The exhibit Time Square is designed for children and is divided into four sections, a time to play, a time to learn, a time to shop, a time for work. You'll be invited to play with traditional toys and handle objects from the past. The showcase room share a variety of artifacts from different cultures including German, British and American and the Rail Way station is impressing as it shows a mural that recreates a typical railway station scene!
