Rogers Pass National Historic Site will let you hike along the Canadian Pacific Railway line that cut through the Selkirk Mountain 1885. The main rail line was operated over Rogers Pass from 1885 to 1916, when the terrible human and financial cost of dealing with avalanches finally pushed the railway company to build the Connaught Tunnel under the pass. Explore stone ruins of a mountain resort, picnic under the trees and even ski along the deep powder trails. There's so much to see and do at the park!
The park is a year-round paradise! Scale jadded mountain peaks or camp next to glacier fed rivers, or in the Summer head out on your bikes and cycle beneath the world's only inland cedar rainforest! The art is the park program has provided artists with special access to explore the park and share their experience. It's there to inspire and connect visitors and all artisits are carefully selected, so make sure you pay it a visit!
Each winer the Park releases avalanches in a controlled manner before they become a threat to the corridor, making way for beautiful ski paths. It's a popular ski touring destination with an average of 14m of snowfall each year.
