The place to re-live some historically momentous moments of the building of the railroad is the wonderful Revelstoke Railway Museum on Victoria Road. Here you will see the beautifully restored CPR locomotive #5468 – one of the largest steam engines ever used by the CPR and an awesome reminder of the great age of steam.
There is a diesel simulator where you'll drive a locomotive through the rockies, using a real control stand! There are lots of interpretive displays too. there's a wide collection of artifacts that helps tell visitors the story of Canadian Pacific Railway's construction and operation. Outside you'll find the heritage railcar collection soy ou can go exploring when the weather is nice!
Every year there is a railway day. Featuring food trucks, music and lots of games and activities for the whole family to get involved. Keep an eye on the website so you know when the latest events are!
A satellite branch of the museum is located at the site of the driving of the Last Spike at Craigellachie, signifying the completion of the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885. It's located on the Trans-Canada highway and includes a picnic area and monument too beside the main CPR line.
